kitchen to kitchen
For six months I resided in a vacation rental during the winter off-season. The experience was isolating and surreal as the apartment was furnished with celebratory seasonal kitsch and stocked with appliances and linens for large groups. In response, I created a mail postcard project enlisting the assistance of relatives. Each card served as a recipe assignment which I created using the items available in the rental unit. A method of creating a connection to the kitchen space through the scents, noise, and activity of cooking - this also opened a dialogue with my female relatives about comfort food, resulting a humorous catalog of dated recipes re-created with 70s era kitchen items.
