A diaristic photo series documenting a year of upheaval and peripatetic living. I am grateful to the families that opened their guest rooms to me as I was gifted the experience of varied homes and accompanying lifestyles. These experiences are tied through the thread of a thrift store blue dress. Through long drives, lost in thought, I found solace in the old homes along the Blue Ridge Mountains. Structures that once served as places of comfort and refuge, housing memory and experience, now re-claimed by the environment, a temporal existence. This photo based project was exhibited in a hand folded accordion book, framed by curtains exhibiting a cyanotype quilted pattern of vine laced structures.
